Macker; father of Ann Marie Macker, John (Nancy) Macker, Margaret (Wayne) Jaquith, Mary Kay (Mark) Gillespie, Patricia (John) Winter, William Macker, Joseph (Sandra) Macker; brother of Evelyn Macker and the late Harold, Sarah, Katherine and Carrie. Also survived by 19 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Bill was a WW II Veteran who landed on Omaha Beach the morning of June 6, 1944 (D-Day), served in 5 major campaigns, and received the Presidential Unit Citation. He worked for PEPCO, retiring after 39 years of service. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Church, 9601 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda, MD, on Thursday, May 27, at 11 a.m. Interment private. On Thursday, May 20, 2010, recently of Lewes, DE, formerly of Leisure World, Silver Spring, Maryland and a native Washingtonian. Beloved wife of the late Ernest V. Di Francis; mother of Donna Repass (Lee) and Virginia McDowell (John); grandmother of Donna Krajewski (Bob), Michael Minard (Sandi), Philip Repass (Nicole), Thomas Minard, David Repass (Jody), Gregory Minard (Kelly), Shawn McDowell (Jen) and the late Kristen V. Repass. Also survived by 13 great-grandchildren. Virginia graduated from Eastern High School and was a member of Theta Pi Sorority. After retiring from the Navy Yard in Washington, DC, she worked as a secretary for Dr. Halpern in Rockville, Maryland. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother who loved to spend time with her family and friends. She had been an avid golfer and loved playing cards with her friends and family. She was a devoted member of the Interfaith Chapel at Leisure World and was a former member of 9th Street Christian Church and National City Christian Church in Washington, DC. Carmel, PA and was Payroll Manager with BAE Systems in Rockville, MD prior to her retirement in 2005. Mrs. Shamanski is survived by four children and three grandchildren, Carol Apple (Tom), Fay Shamanski (Mike), Walter Shamanski (Noreen) and Sally Howes also granddaughter, Rene” Foster and grandsons, Jesse and Aaron Apple. She is also survived by two sisters and one brother, Joan Johnson (Ray) of Vienna, VA, Catherine Darrup (Jim) of Mt. Carmel, PA and Robert Lucas (Christine) of Kulpmont, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick who passed away in 1995 and her parents, Joseph and Thelma Lucas.
